Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing in between until fully incorporated.
Stir in the vanilla extract until combined.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the flour.
Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners and fill each cavity about two-thirds full with batter.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorate the cooled cupcakes with frosting and holiday-themed decorations.
