In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
