Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients.
Gradually combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
If using, fold in dark chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Slice and serve once completely cool.
