Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and thyme.
In an oven-safe skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add seasoned chicken thighs skin-side down in the skillet. Sear until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
Flip the chicken and nestle trimmed asparagus around it in the skillet.
Drizzle lemon juice over the chicken and asparagus.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
